Summary
A report that Yahya transmits from Malik: the best of what he heard about horses, mules and donkeys is that they are not eaten, because God mentioned them for riding and adornment, and mentioned livestock for riding and eating. He cited verses from Surat al-Hajj and Surat al-Nahl. Malik was also heard to say that the destitute is the poor, the one who visits is the beggar, and the one who is content is also the poor. 1
