Summary

A report of Aisha, heard from Safiyya bint Shayba (may God be pleased with her), in the chapter on the virtues of the People of the House of the Prophet ﷺ, in Sahih Muslim. The Prophet put al-Hasan, al-Husayn, Fatima and Ali under a striped cloak and then recited the verse of purification (Al-Ahzab 33). It is one of the clearest texts in Sunni tradition on who the People of the House are. 1
