Summary

In the Book of the Obligation of the Fifth: according to Urwa, from Marwan and al-Miswar ibn Makhrama (may God be pleased with him), the delegation of Hawazin asked the Prophet ﷺ to return their property or their captives. He gave them the choice, and they chose their captives. He then asked people to release them, and they agreed. He had waited for them some ten nights when he returned from Ta'if. 1

A legal category of recipients of zakat and spoils established in Islamic law to reconcile hearts to the faith and cement communal stability; widely applied by the Prophet at al-Ji'rana through major grants of camels and silver to Meccan and Najdi tribal chiefs.
