Overview
The Almohads were the call of the Masmuda, established by Muhammad ibn Tumart, known as al-Mahdi, in the cause of monotheism and in fighting those he named the anthropomorphists. The state of Abd al-Mu'min ibn Ali then arose on this call and ruled both Maghribs. 2
The name
Ibn Khaldun says that Ibn Tumart called his followers the Almohads, as a pointed allusion to the Almoravids of Lamtuna. 2
