Overview
Al-Suyuti relates that Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik said when he came to power: "Govern by the conduct of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz." 1
The witnesses
Forty elders were brought to him, and they bore witness for him that there is no reckoning or punishment for the caliphs. This is what al-Suyuti relates, a report transmitted without a judgement on it here. 1
The return
Al-Suyuti relates from Ibn al-Majishun that Yazid ruled for forty days by the conduct of Umar and then turned from it. 1
What is not covered here: what replaced that conduct. This needs an additional source.
