Overview
Al-Suyuti quotes Ibn al-Jawzi that in 346 AH the sea receded eighty cubits, and mountains and islands appeared in it that had never been known. There were great earthquakes in al-Rayy and its districts. 1
The sinking of the land
The town of Talaqan sank, and only about thirty men of its people escaped. A hundred and fifty villages of al-Rayy sank, and the matter reached Hulwan, and most of it sank. 1
Other scenes in the account
The earth threw out the bones of the dead and water gushed forth from it, and a mountain in al-Rayy was split. A village was suspended between heaven and earth with its people for half a day, and then sank. The earth was split by great fissures from which foul water and thick smoke came out. Then the earthquakes returned in 347 AH to Qum, Hulwan and the mountains, and destroyed a great number of people. 1

This is a transmission from Ibn al-Jawzi in a single source, and needs an additional source.
