Overview

In 302 AH a group of the Qarmatis intercepted a pilgrim caravan at al-Aqaba on the road to Mecca. Ibn al-Jawzi says that they killed the pilgrims, took the women they wanted, and seized what was in the caravan. 1

Ibn al-Jawzi's account is short. The attackers were the Qarmatis, the place was al-Aqaba on the pilgrims' road to Mecca, and the year was 302 AH. 1

The Qarmatians
