Overview
In Dhu al-Qa'da 887 AH a flood came to Mecca which the "Shadharat al-Dhahab" describes as huge, the like of which had not been heard. It says that it destroyed about a quarter of the houses of Mecca, that it passed through the Sacred Mosque and reached the door of the Ka'ba, and that none could count those who died in it but God. 1
What the source says
These descriptions are the source's own wording, and they are an estimate, not a count. The data gives no figures for the victims or for the districts affected, which needs an additional source.
Date
Dhu al-Qa'da 887 AH, with a Gregorian equivalent (around 1482 CE) that is derived. 1
