Overview
Ibn Khaldun relates that al-Mu'izz ibn Badis had turned away from the doctrines of the Rafida and professed the Sunna, and declared his doctrine at the beginning of his rule, cursing them. 2
What happened
According to Ibn Khaldun, al-Mu'izz afterwards went on to kill whoever of them he found. One day his horse stumbled under him, and he cried out for help in the names of Abu Bakr and Umar; the common people heard him and rose against the Shi'a and killed them, and the Rafida preachers were killed that day. 2
The effect
Ibn Khaldun says that the Shi'i caliphs in Cairo were angered by this, until the prayer for them ceased in 440 AH in the time of al-Mustansir. 2
The date is approximate (around 407 AH), while the start of al-Mu'izz's rule is 406 AH according to the same account. An additional source is needed.
