Overview
Ibn al-Imad's account
He says that the emperor corresponded with al-Kamil asking for Jerusalem, so as to raise his standing among the kings, binding himself to send him its revenues. Al-Kamil answered him. Then the siege of Damascus followed, and the peace was concluded in Sha'ban. 2
Ibn al-Athir's account
He says that the agreement between al-Kamil, al-Ashraf and the emperor decided on the handover of Jerusalem and a few other places, on condition that Hebron, Nablus, the Ghawr and Tiberias remained in Muslim hands. He says the wall of Jerusalem was in ruins, and that the Muslims were appalled by what had happened. 3 4
The two accounts differ in some details, and we present both without preferring one.
