In 929 the Franks entered al-Shihr, killed, took captives and looted; martyred in that raid was the scholar Shihab al-Din Ahmad b. 'Abd Allah Balhaj al-Shafi'i, after the dawn of Friday the tenth of Rabi' II 1.
