Summary
The hamam of Gazi Mihal stands at the eastern approach to the bridge of the same name over the Tunca; it is the oldest hamam in Edirne, now abandoned and in ruins 1.
Founder and date
An inscription dates the bath to 1406; it was built by Gazi Mihal, a Greek nobleman who converted to Islam and joined the Ottoman service — the same man who built the bridge and the mosque on the far side 1.
For young visitors
Edirne's oldest bathhouse was built in 1406 by a new Ottoman commander — and it still stands, though ruined.
