Unmudhaj al-'Ulum fi Mi'at Mas'ala min Mi'at Funun

"Unmudhaj al-Ulum" (The Model of the Sciences), an epistle by Shams al-Din Muhammad al-Fannari on one hundred questions from one hundred branches of knowledge. He named the branches in riddles, as a test for the learned men of his age, and they could not identify them, let alone solve the questions. ¹

"Kashf al-Zunun" reports, from the author of "Al-Shaqa'iq", that he heard from one of the author's grandchildren that it was by his son Muhammad Shah. Muhammad Shah himself explained it, identified the names of the branches, solved the difficult questions, versified after each piece, and finished the commentary in 824 AH. ¹

It is said that his father wrote it when he travelled to Qaraman, as a test for its scholars, because they used to deny his merit. ¹
