Reception

Robert Christgau wrote that its Sufi ecstasy runs closer to the surface and wilder than on The Last Prophet; Newsday found that the Western trappings of his recent performances were gone, leaving him free to weave Sufi poetry and driving percussion; and The Washington Post wrote that 'Ruk Pe Rehmat Ka' reaches a transcendent elation. 1 It has four pieces: 'Yeh Jo Halka Halka', 'Ruk Pe Rehmat Ka', 'Be Wafa' and 'Meri Saqi Saqi Yeh'. 1

Dust to Gold (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan album)

A qawwali album by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, recorded in 1997 with his ensemble in traditional form and released posthumously by Real World in 2000, with four long pieces, among them 'Khawaja tum hi ho' and 'Noor-e-khuda hai husn-e-sarapa rasool'; critics heard a balance of improvisational freedom and control, though his voice showed strain.
