أسمى المطالب في سيرة أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب، الجزء الثاني

Volume 2 of Ali Muhammad al-Sallabi's biography of Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him), covering the aftermath of Uthman's killing, the Camel, Siffin, the arbitration, the Kharijites at Nahrawan and Ali's death. Written from a Sunni standpoint; it grades chains of narration and rebuts what the author sees as Shi'i and orientalist distortion.

Overview

The second volume of Dr 'Ali Muhammad al-Sallabi's biography of 'Ali b. Abi Talib (Maktabat al-Iman, Mansura), covering the fitna after 'Uthman's killing, the battles of the Camel and Siffin, the arbitration, the Khawarij and Nahrawan, and 'Ali's last days and death. The author writes from a Sunni perspective, relying primarily on al-Tabari, Ibn Kathir and al-Dhahabi, answers what he sees as bias in Shi'i and orientalist accounts, and rules on each isnad's weakness or soundness in place.
