Overview
The emirate of Banu al-Ukhaydhir in al-Yamama, of the Banu al-Hasan, descended from Musa al-Jawn ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Hasan al-Muthanna. Ibn Khaldun says that their rule was established in al-Yamama until the Qaramita overcame them and their affair came to an end. 1
Isma'il in the Hijaz
Isma'il and Muhammad al-Ukhaydhir were the sons of Yusuf ibn Ibrahim ibn Musa. Isma'il, called al-Saffak, went out among the Bedouins of the Hijaz in 251 AH (865 CE) and made for Mecca. 1
Ibn Khaldun reports that the governor of Mecca fled, and that Isma'il plundered the homes of the men of authority and took the covering of the Ka'ba, and stayed in plunder for fifty days. He then besieged Medina until its people died of hunger, and it was not prayed in its mosque. He wandered in the Hijaz for twenty-two years. 1

His brother Muhammad al-Ukhaydhir succeeded him, and their rule settled in al-Yamama. 1
