Overview

Shantra is an Andalusian city. Al-Maqqari quotes Ibn al-Yasa' that wheat and barley are sown there and harvested forty days after sowing, and that its apples are large, each reaching three spans or more. 2

He mentions that Abu Abd Allah al-Bakuri saw, at the court of al-Mu'tamid ibn Abbad, a man of its people who had presented him with four apples. 2
