Overview

Namira is a district of 'Arafa, where the Prophet stayed before the standing (wuquf), and it was a resting place of the caliphs. Al-Azraqi reports from 'Ata' that the fallen rock at the foot of the mountain at Namira, on the right of one going to 'Arafa, used to have a garment thrown over it for shade. 1 The coordinates recorded for the Mosque of Namira, which is a landmark in the district rather than its boundary, come from GeoNames. 2
