Overview

Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which the book counts the Prophet's night-journey destination and the second mosque to which journeys are made. It holds the name al-Aqsa once covered the whole walled enclosure — its application to today's building a later usage 1 — that 'Abd al-Malik b. Marwan built both mosques known as the Dome and al-Aqsa 2, and that the esplanade measures some 140 dunams and nine hundred meters.

From Sheikh Omar Abdelkafy's Tafsir lectures (episode 2)

The Sheikh holds that the cause of al-Aqsa Mosque unites all Muslims, that any other cause rises and then falls, and that al-Aqsa remains with the Muslims a point that gathers people 3. He cites a hadith that trials, among the signs of the Hour, come one after another, softening one another, so that a trial arrives and the servant says it is his undoing, then it passes and the next follows (needs_source) 3.
