Summary
Zaiba Hasan is an American podcast host and interfaith speaker, born and raised in Chicago, of Irish and Pakistani heritage and an interfaith upbringing, frequently invited to speak at interfaith events. She is a mother of four and is working on a master's degree and a parent coaching certification. 1
Mommying While Muslim
She founded the Mommying While Muslim podcast after her teenage son was stopped at an airport as a Muslim male. In her own words to EmbraceRace: "It started when I had an incident happen with my oldest son at an airport", and she contacted her friend Dr Uzma Jafri to look for and collect resources for mothers like themselves. 2 Uzma recalls: "I didn't know what podcasts were until Zaiba was like, 'Do you think we should start a podcast?'", and says she "came on for the ride". 2 The two became the podcast's co-hosts.
The podcast's own channel states its purpose: to "support American Muslim moms and the unique issues we face in a post 9/11 world", sharing the hosts' experiences and learning from and validating their listeners. 3
