Overview
Sultan Tughril ibn Arslan ibn Tughril ibn Muhammad ibn Malik-Shah ibn Alp Arslan the Seljuk. Ibn al-Athir counts him as the last of the Seljuk sultans in Iraq and the Jibal 1.
His rise
He came out of prison in the year 588 AH and took the rule of Hamadhan and other places. He fought Qutlugh Inanj ibn al-Bahlawan until he sought help from Ala' al-Din Takish, Khwarazm Shah 1.
His death
Tughril went to al-Rayy against him in the year 590 AH while his armies were scattered. He refused to gather them, and charged in person into the middle of the army of the Khwarazm Shah. They surrounded him and killed him on the twenty-fourth of Rabi' al-Awwal, and his head was carried to Baghdad and displayed for days at the Bab al-Nubi 1.
