Overview

'Azizi ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Mansur al-Jabali, Abu al-Ma'ali, known as Shaydhala, was a preacher of the Shafi'i jurists with a bent for letters, of Gilan. He held the judgeship at Baghdad and died there in 494 AH (1100 CE). 1

Ibn Khallikan says he composed works on fiqh, the principles of religion and preaching, and versified much of the Arabs' poetry. His books include al-Burhan fi Mushkilat al-Qur'an; Diwan al-Uns of hadith and sermons; and Lawami' Anwar al-Qulub on the secrets of lover and beloved, a Sufi work. 1
