Overview

Sawran, a figure whom al-Baladhuri mentions in the report of the fortresses of al-Mufarraj 1.

His report in al-Baladhuri

He rose after al-Mufarraj ibn Salam in "the great land". He sent his envoy to al-Mutawakkil asking him for a charter and a letter of appointment, but al-Mutawakkil died before the envoy returned. The charter remained pending until Wasif, client of the Commander of the Faithful, granted it to him and enforced it in the time of al-Musta'in 1.

In one of the copies the name appears as "Sudan" 1.
