Summary
Saad ibn Said ibn Saad al-Ghamdi (born 7 August 1967) is a Saudi Qur'an reciter and imam from Dammam. He completed his memorisation of the Qur'an in 1990, received an ijaza with isnad in the Hafs recitation in 1417 AH, worked as a teacher and educational supervisor before becoming general supervisor of the Muhammad Al-Fatih private schools in Dammam, and is imam of the Yousef bin Ahmed Kanoo Mosque there. In Ramadan 1430 AH (2009) he led Tarawih prayers as a guest imam at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, and he has issued a recorded murattal Qur'an and works on adhkar and ruqya.12
Early life and education
He was born in Dammam in the Eastern Province in 1967. The Arabic article pairs 7 August 1967 with 1 Jumada al-Ula 1387 AH, and Wikidata and the French article agree; the English infobox gives 19 May 1967, against its own text, which gives the year only — the museum records 7 August 1967 and sets the conflict out in his data record. He received his primary education in Dammam, attending Musab bin Umair Elementary School, then Al-Faisal Intermediate School, and finally Al-Shati Secondary School.231
He graduated from Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University's College of Sharia in Al-Ahsa, where he was reviewing and mastering the Qur'an, and in 1990, at the age of twenty-two, he memorised the entire Qur'an. The Arabic article adds that he had begun nasheed singing in secondary school in 1405 AH, recorded the Dammam First and Second tapes, and left singing in his early university years, in 1407 AH, to devote himself to memorisation; in 1417 AH he received his ijaza with isnad in the recitation of Hafs from Asim.12
Career and imamate
He worked as a teacher until 1995, then as an educational supervisor for Islamic education in Dammam until 2003; he currently works as the general supervisor of Muhammad Al-Fatih Private Schools in Dammam. The Arabic article adds that he is also general supervisor of the Imam al-Shatibi Centre for the Qur'an in Dammam and of the Manar al-Huda Centre for sharia and educational courses, and a member of Dammam's social committee.12
He was influenced, the Arabic article says, by the recitation of Shaykh Marwan ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Qadiri, imam and khatib of the Shaykh Ali al-Majdu'i Mosque in Dammam's Al-Badi'a district, and in 1411 AH he led the people in Tarawih prayer — the beginning of his path in recitation — with his first release comprising Surat al-Ahzab and Surat al-Zumar. In Ramadan 1430 AH he led the Tarawih prayers, serving as guest imam, in the Prophet's Mosque. In 2012 he became imam of the Yousef bin Ahmed Kanoo Mosque in Dammam, while also leading prayers in several mosques in the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, Kuwait and Bahrain.21
Works
His recorded works include the murattal Qur'an issued in 1417 AH, versifications and editions connected with memorisation — the Nazm Hidayat al-Murtab of al-Sakhawi on the Qur'an's similar passages and the Alfiyya of al-Iraqi — a letter "To the People of the Qur'an", the Adhkar, al-Ruqya al-Shar'iyya, and the texts of al-Jazariyya and Tuhfat al-Atfal. He has also produced albums of Islamic nasheeds.21
Faith record
The museum records his faith as unknown. The English article's infobox gives his jurisprudence as "Hanbali, Salafi", with no denomination field, unreferenced; the Arabic infobox gives his creed as Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama'a with the fiqh field left empty; the Urdu and French articles name no school for him; Wikidata gives only Islam. No article text attests a school for him personally. One infobox tradition is not two independent attestations.123
