    The doping ban

On 7 March 2025 the International Testing Agency announced that the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport had imposed a four-year ban on Kayaalp after a sample taken from him on 28 May 2024 tested positive for trimetazidine, the ban running from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2028. Kayaalp said that he would appeal and that the substance came from a medicine he had taken for ringing in his ears, not to enhance performance. The articles nevertheless record his gold medal at the 2026 European Championships in Tirana. 1
