Career
Elabdellaoui played youth football in Oslo for Sagene and Skeid before joining Manchester City in 2008. He never made a league appearance for City, and was loaned to Strømsgodset in Norway, Feyenoord in the Netherlands and Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany, the last of which he joined permanently in 2013. 1
In 2014 he moved to Olympiacos, where he spent six seasons, making 116 league appearances and winning Greek league titles, with a loan spell at Hull City in 2017. In 2020 he signed for Galatasaray. On New Year's Eve that year, fireworks detonated in his hands at home, injuring his eyes; he underwent treatment and eventually returned to playing. He closed his career back in Norway with Bodø/Glimt in 2023–2024. 1
For Norway he played through the youth levels and made his senior debut in 2013, reaching 49 caps. The sources record his Moroccan descent and name his cousins, the footballers Mohammed and Mustafa Abdellaoue; they make no statement of his religion. 1 3
