    Summary

Mustafa Denizli is a Turkish football manager and former forward. 1 Born in İzmir in 1949, he spent seventeen seasons playing for his hometown club Altay, and as a manager he remains the only coach to have won the Süper Lig with all three of Istanbul's big clubs — Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş. 1 He also took Galatasaray to a European Cup semi-final and Turkey to the quarter-finals of Euro 2000. 1 None of the sources read for this record states a religion for him, so his data record leaves his faith as unknown. 12

    Seventeen years at Altay

Denizli was born on 10 November 1949 in İzmir. 3 He joined Altay, his hometown club, and stayed seventeen seasons, becoming one of the finest attacking left forwards in the league's history, winning the Turkish Cup twice and finishing as the league's top scorer in 1979–80, before a final playing season at Galatasaray. 1 In all he scored 124 goals in 402 league matches. 3

The man who won the league with all three giants

Denizli's managerial career made Turkish football history. With Galatasaray he won the Süper Lig in 1987–88 and reached the semi-finals of the 1988–89 European Cup — still the deepest run by a Turkish club in that competition. 1 He then won the league with Fenerbahçe in 2000–01 and with Beşiktaş in 2008–09, completing a treble no other manager has matched: the championship with each of Istanbul's three great rivals. 1 With Beşiktaş he remains the only Turkish coach under whom the club has won the league. 1

    Turkey and abroad

Denizli managed the Turkey national team for four years and took them to the quarter-finals of Euro 2000; the IFFHS named him the world's eleventh-best national team coach that year. 1 Abroad he coached Alemannia Aachen in Germany, Pas and Persepolis in Iran, Khazar Lankaran in Azerbaijan and Tractor in Iran. 1 His last post was an emotional return to Altay in April 2021, where he asked for his contract proceeds to be donated to foundations for soldiers' and martyrs' families, and led the club back to the Süper Lig through the play-offs before resigning in January 2022. 1

    Faith in the sources

The sources read for this record do not state a religion for Denizli. The English article's text makes no statement about his religion; its category list files him under "Cretan Muslims", an ethnic-heritage category reflecting Cretan Muslim family background, which is not a statement of personal faith and names no school. 1 The Arabic article likewise makes no statement, and Wikidata carries no religion value for him at all. 32 Under the lane rule, family background and Turkey's Hanafi milieu cannot be converted into a personal attestation, so the data record leaves his faith as unknown.
