Summary
Mo Gilligan is a British stand-up comedian, television presenter and content creator, born Mosiah Bikila Gilligan in Lambeth, London, on 19 February 1988. He built an audience through comedy clips on social media, broke through in 2017, co-hosted The Big Narstie Show, hosted his own Channel 4 show The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, and has been a judge on The Masked Singer UK since 2020. 1
Life
Gilligan was born in Lambeth to British parents of Jamaican and St Lucian descent; his mother was born in Wales and his father is from Brixton. 1 His parents separated when he was five and he was raised between both parents in Camberwell, studying performing arts at Pimlico School. 1 He is an Arsenal supporter and is engaged. 1 The English article's personal-life section states that he is a Christian and attends Hillsong Church in Golders Green; no second independent text attesting his faith was found, so the museum records his faith as unknown with that single attestation preserved in his data record. 1 2
Work
Gilligan was working in retail when he began uploading comedy videos to his social media accounts, and in 2017 the rapper Drake quoted his material on Instagram, bringing him a much wider audience. 1 From 2018 to 2022 he co-hosted The Big Narstie Show on Channel 4, a late-night entertainment show that won a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society award. 1 In 2019 he began hosting The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, winning the BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance in 2020; the show ran four series to December 2023. 1 Since 2020 he has been a regular judge on ITV's The Masked Singer UK, and judged The Masked Dancer UK from 2021. 1 He voiced Beckett in the animated film 10 Lives (2024) and launched his podcast Mo Gilligan: Beginning, Middle and End in August 2024. 1
