    Summary

Maaz Aslam is a Pakistani youth named by a peer-reviewed study as an initiator, with the Indonesian Erfian Asafat, of the FreeQuranEducation YouTube channel — an animated channel that teaches children to read the Quran through free illustrated videos. The channel had about two million subscribers in October 2026. 1 2

    Career and work

The study of the channel published in Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education in 2019 states that the channel "is an animated video project created by an animation studio from Indonesia named Darul Arqam Studio initiated by a Muslim youth named Maaz Aslam from Pakistan and Erfian Asafat from Indonesia". The studio worked with more than thirty full-time illustrators and a body of volunteers; by the study's count the channel had uploaded 1,681 videos with some 48 million views since 2014, volunteers from twelve countries had made its language editions, and its funding came almost entirely from crowdfunding, with all content free and carrying no advertisements. 1

The channel itself names no individual: its video descriptions credit Darul Arqam Studio, and its appeals ask viewers to fund the aim of teaching people worldwide to read the Quran correctly. 2 No further biographical information about Aslam was found in any source consulted; this entry records what the single naming source gives, no more.

    Positions and faith

This section should be read as a presentation of what the sources give, not as a verdict of the museum.

The only source that names Maaz Aslam calls him "a Muslim youth" from Pakistan. No source names a legal school or any affiliation for him personally, and the channel he initiated names none either, so no faith value is recorded for him. 1 2
