Overview
Abu al-Jaysh Khumarawayh ibn Ahmad ibn Tulun. He remained over his father's provinces after his father's death in 270 AH. 1
With Abu al-Abbas ibn al-Muwaffaq
Al-Suyuti says that al-Muwaffaq appointed his son Abu al-Abbas over his affairs, and sent him to Egypt with the troops of Iraq. A great battle took place between them, in which the land was soaked with blood, and the victory went to the Egyptians. 1 In al-Mas'udi, Abu al-Abbas defeated him on the day of the Mills in 271 AH; he escaped to Fustat, and appointed Ali ibn Ahmad al-Madarani as his vizier. 3
His killing
In al-Mas'udi he was slaughtered in Damascus in Dhu al-Qa'da 282 AH, and one of his servants took charge of the slaughter. 4 In Ibn al-Jawzi, some of his servants slaughtered him on his bed; after him his son Jaysh succeeded, and then his brother Harun. 2
