    Early life and career

Williams's parents left Ghana and crossed the Sahara on foot before reaching Spain, entering by claiming refugee status; they settled in Bilbao, where Iñaki was born, and later in Pamplona, where he grew up. His Basque first name honours Iñaki, a volunteer with the Catholic charity Caritas in Bilbao who helped his parents after they arrived. He joined Athletic Bilbao's academy in 2012, rose through Basconia and Bilbao Athletic, and made his first-team debut in December 2014; he has remained at the club ever since, one of the most durable players in its modern history. 1

He represented Spain at under-21 level and won one senior cap in 2016. In 2022 he switched to represent Ghana at international level, and was selected for the 2022 and 2026 World Cups. His younger brother Nico Williams is also an Athletic Bilbao forward. 1

    On the record

The sources make no statement of Williams's own religion. The English article's only religious reference is to Caritas, the Catholic charity whose volunteer he was named after; the Arabic article and the short Urdu stub are likewise silent, and Wikidata carries no religion value for him. 1 2 4 3
