Summary

Abu'l-Qasim Muhammad ibn Hani' al-Azdi al-Andalusi, the famous poet; born and raised in Seville, memorising the verse and lore of the Arabs and attached to Seville's ruler; accused of the philosophers' creed, the king advised him to disappear — he left for the Maghreb, met Jawhar the Commander and praised him, then travelled on to Ja'far and Yahya, the sons of 'Ali, at al-Masila. 1

At al-Mu'izz's court

Word of him reached al-Mu'izz ibn al-Mansur al-'Ubaydi, who summoned and favoured him; he escorted him toward Egypt, then turned back for his family, stopped at Barqa, and was killed there; his panegyrics on al-Mu'izz are many and fine. 1
