Overview

Hamdan ibn Hamdun ibn al-Harith ibn Mansur ibn Luqman, grandfather of Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Abd Allah, who was given the title Nasir al-Dawla, as al-Mas'udi mentions. 3

The fortress

He entrenched himself in the fortress known as al-Sawwara near Ayn al-Za'faran, on which he had spent large sums. Al-Mu'tadid camped before it and destroyed it, and his son al-Husayn ibn Hamdan and those with him asked al-Mu'tadid for safe conduct. 3
