Overview
Ahmed Koprulu, Ottoman grand vizier, son of Mehmed Koprulu. He followed his father's course in repelling the attacks of the Holy League. He refused a peace with Austria and Venice, and marched at the head of an army to fight Austria. 2
Conquest and diplomacy
Al-Salabi reports that he took the fortress of Neuhausel, east of Vienna, on 25 Safar 1074 AH, corresponding to 28 September 1663 CE. In his time France tried to renew its privileges, and he refused. When Louis XIV sent his ambassador with a warship fleet to threaten him, he said that the privileges were a favour and not a treaty that had to be carried out. France then backed down, until the old treaties were renewed for it. 2
Al-Salabi holds that the Ottoman order weakened at his death, and Austria then attacked the lands of Hungary. The data dates his death to around 1676 CE / 1087 AH. 3
