Summary

Aftakin the Turk, mawla of Mu'izz al-Dawla Ibn Buwayh; he seized Damascus and rose against the 'Ubaydi al-'Aziz, lord of Egypt, who marched against him in person. Their armies met in a great slaughter, Aftakin broke and fled — the bedouin Dughful b. al-Jarrah cut off his road and bore him to al-'Aziz with a rope at his neck; al-'Aziz freed him, treated him well, and he lived briefly before dying. 1
