Overview
Bishr ibn al-Mu'tamir, a Mu'tazili scholar. Ahmad Amin makes him the head of the Baghdad branch in the sequence of the sect. After Wasil ibn Ata and Amr ibn Ubayd the Mu'tazila split into two branches: the Basran branch, with Abu Bakr al-Asamm, Ma'mar ibn Abbad and al-Nazzam, and the Baghdad branch with Bishr at its head. Then came Abu Ali al-Jubba'i, the teacher of Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari. 2
The data do not record his year of birth or death, which need an additional source.
