Overview
Badr, a slave-boy of al-Mu'tadid, who was killed in 289 AH. Al-Tabari says that al-Qasim ibn Ubayd Allah feared that Badr would go to al-Muktafi and inform him of what al-Qasim had resolved, to turn the caliphate away from the sons of al-Mu'tadid. 1
Al-Mas'udi says that he was Badr ibn Khayr, a client of al-Mutawakkil, who was in the service of Nashi, the slave-boy of al-Muwaffaq, then came close to al-Mu'tadid and drew near his heart, so that needs were sought through him and poets joined his praise with the praise of al-Mu'tadid. 2
