Summary
- A Saudi preacher, writer and family and educational counsellor; her full name is Asma bint Rashid Al-Ruwaished, and an author page on the site of the Al-Jami' Channel for Quranic Sciences records her book "Thus They Lived with the Qur'an". 1
- Supervisor of the Asiyah Foundation for Consultations and Training and of its Asiyah Centre for Educational and Family Consultations in Riyadh, a women's centre specialising in family and educational consultations. 2 3
- Known for the "Women's Mobile" message service addressed to women, and for lectures and dawah campaigns for women, among them the "Lak Istajabna" (To You We Responded) campaign of 1432 AH. 2 4
Career
- A directory of Islamic mobile services presents the "Women's Mobile" service as running "under the supervision of Dr Asma Al-Ruwaished, the supervisor of the Asiyah Foundation", with channels of benefits, experiences and ideas addressed to women. 2
- A Saudi directory of family consultants lists the Asiyah Centre as a women's centre specialising in family and educational consultations in the Riyadh region, names Asma Al-Ruwaished as its supervisor, and gives her women's mobile subscription service on a public short code. 3
- Ahead of Ramadan 1432 AH (2011), the Asiyah Foundation launched its "Lak Istajabna" campaign: it announced an episode of the "Nasamat" programme on Al-Majd channel with contributing guests including Asma Al-Ruwaished, and published excerpts of a campaign lecture of hers addressed to women. 4
- Within the campaign the foundation announced the publication of her book "Lak Istajabna", distributed free across Riyadh with a competition of a hundred prizes, and put the database of the centre's mobile-message service at roughly twenty thousand women subscribers — a figure given by the campaign announcement itself at the time. 4
- She has a video presence in a YouTube video titled "Marafi al-Sakina (Harbours of Tranquillity) — Dr Asma Al-Ruwaished"; no channel of her own could be verified, and her video presence runs through television appearances and uploads by others. 5
Works
- "Thus They Lived with the Qur'an" (Hakatha Ashu ma'a al-Qur'an) — published by Dar al-Hadara in 2011, 168 pages, catalogued under tafsir and contemplation of the Qur'an. 1
- "Lak Istajabna" (To You We Responded) — issued by the Asiyah Foundation within its 1432 AH campaign and distributed free in Riyadh. 4
- "Trust in God" (Al-Tawakkul ala Allah) — on the meaning of trust in God, its kinds, causes and fruits; the Al-Kalim al-Tayyib site published selected benefits from it. 6
- "What of the Last Day?" (Madha an al-Yawm al-Akhir) — on what is reported of the Last Day, the resurrection and the gathering, in 36 pages. 7
Positions and reception
These positions are reported from the sources cited; they are not the museum's verdict.
- Her public work is dawah and counselling addressed to women: her message service and her centre address women in their families and upbringing, and her campaign and lectures turn on responding to God in worship and daily life, as the campaign announcements and the excerpts of her lecture describe them. 2 4
- No independent biographical source for her was found in the encyclopaedias, and no trusted source gives a birth date; no birth date is therefore recorded in her file. 1 3
