Overview

Alqama ibn Safwan ibn Umayya (may God be pleased with him) ibn Muharrib al-Kinani, the maternal grandfather of Marwan ibn al-Hakam. 2

The report

Al-Mas'udi relates that he went out one night seeking some money of his in Mecca, and came to a wall of Hirman, where the split-faced jinn appeared to him. They exchanged verses and then blows, and both fell dead. It is well known among the Arabs that the jinn killed Alqama. 2

Notes for researchers

  • The report comes from "Muruj al-Dhahab" alone and needs an additional source.
  • The museum's data place him in the pre-Islamic period, though he was the maternal grandfather of Marwan ibn al-Hakam; this needs review.
