Overview

Ali ibn Yahya al-Munajjim, of the Banu al-Munajjim. Al-Mas'udi relates a report that Ali himself told. 2

His story with al-Muntasir

Al-Muntasir saw him sad about an estate he wanted to buy, whose price he had no money for, which was thirty thousand dirhams less ten. The caliph signalled to his servant, who went to his house with a mule carrying two bags, and the price was paid. Al-Muntasir never wrote a letter against him until death separated them. 2

Ali said: "I have never seen anyone more generous in deeds without boasting than him." 2
