Overview

Abu al-Amud al-Shari rose in the area of Yemen, al-Bawazij and Mosul in the days of al-Muntasir. He ruled, and his affair grew strong with those of the Muhakkima from Rabi'a and the Kurds who joined him. 2

His capture and pardon

Al-Muntasir sent an army against him under the Turk Sima, which captured and carried him off. Al-Muntasir pardoned him, took his covenant and let him go. Al-Mas'udi relates from his vizier the saying that the pleasure of pardon is sweeter than the pleasure of revenge. 2
