Overview

Al-Rabi' ibn Yunus, chamberlain of the caliph al-Mansur, according to al-Baladhuri. He is al-Rabi' ibn Yunus ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Farwa Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad, who was among the captives, and whom Uthman bought to dig graves. 1

In al-Mas'udi

Al-Mas'udi relates that he brought al-Mansur the report of the coming out of Muhammad ibn Abd Allah at the time of midday, while al-Mansur was asleep. Al-Mansur ordered Hammad al-Turki to open the door, and heard, and got up to open it himself. He sent him with the head of Ibrahim to his father Abd Allah in prison. 2

The death year is not in the data, and the link of his lineage to the captivity mentioned here rests on al-Baladhuri alone, and needs confirmation.
