Overview

Al-Musayyab ibn Zuhayr al-Dabbi, one of the commanders of the Abbasid al-Mansur. 2

His stand with al-Mansur

Al-Mas'udi says that he was sent out with the provisions on the day Muhammad ibn Abd Allah rose. 2

He relates that al-Mansur said: "I have not seen anyone more sincerely advising than al-Hajjaj to the Marwanids." Al-Musayyab stood up and said that al-Hajjaj had not preceded them in any matter from which they had lagged behind, and that al-Mansur had ordered them to kill the children of their prophet and they had obeyed him; he asked whether they had advised him or not. Al-Mansur said to him: "Sit down, may you never sit." 2
