Overview

Al-Kumayt ibn Zayd al-Asadi, the poet of the Banu Hashim. His poetry grew in the Nizariyya and the Yamaniyya, so that Nizar took pride over Yemen and Yemen over Nizar, and people formed factions and tribal zeal broke out among the Bedouins and the settled. 1

Al-Mas'udi counted that among the causes of the fall of the rule of the Banu Umayya. This is al-Mas'udi's judgement, not the museum's. 1

Al-Mas'udi quotes two of his verses on his quest and on the support of prophecy. 1
