Overview

Abu Ali al-Husayn ibn Ali (may God be pleased with him) ibn Yazid al-Mahabi al-Karabisi. Ibn al-Nadim describes him as knowing hadith and jurisprudence, and counts him among the Jabriyya because he was closer to compulsion than others. 2

His works

Ibn al-Nadim attributes to him the book "al-Mudallisin" on hadith and the book "al-Imama", and says that in the latter there is an insinuation against Ali. 2

His death

Al-Shirazi says that he died in 245 AH, and it is said 248 AH. 3

Notes for researchers

  • The classification among the Jabriyya is Ibn al-Nadim's description, a judgement attributed to him and not to the museum.
  • The date of death is disputed; the Gregorian conversion is derived.
