Overview
Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Abd Allah al-Najjar, a theologian whom Ibn al-Nadim counts among the leaders of the Mujbira and their theologians. 2
His life in Ibn al-Nadim
He was a weaver in the workshop of al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Hashimi, and it is said he made scales for the people of Barm. Ibn al-Nadim described his speech as like the squeaking of a bat, and says he was a man of disputation, and that he had sessions and debates with al-Nazzam. 2
He relates that the cause of his death was that he met Ibrahim al-Nazzam and argued against him on the creation of acts until he overwhelmed him with the argument. Al-Nazzam kicked him and said harsh words to him, so he went away with a fever, and that was the illness of which he died. 3
His works
He had many books, among them "al-Istita'a" (Capacity), "al-Makhluq" (The Created), "al-Sifat wa al-Asma'" (Attributes and Names), "Ithbat al-Rusul" (Proof of the Messengers), "al-Irja'" (Postponement), and a refutation of the heretics. 3
