Overview
Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Musa, the nephew of Abu Sahl ibn Nawbakht, a theologian and philosopher. 2
His standing
A group of the transmitters of philosophy books gathered to him, such as Abu Uthman al-Dimashqi, Ishaq and Thabit. The Mu'tazilis claimed him, and so did the Shi'is. Ibn al-Nadim considers him nearer to the Shi'i side, because the family of Nawbakht were known in outward profession for loyalty to Ali and his descendants. 2
He was a great collector of books, and copied much of them in his hand. 2
His books
Among his books are "Opinions and Religions", which he did not finish, "Refutation of the Transmigrationists", "Tawhid", "The Origin of Sects", "Refutation of Abu Isa's book on Eastern Rarities", "An Abridgement of Aristotle's On Generation and Corruption", "Argument for Umar ibn Abbad and Support of his Doctrine", and "Imama", which he did not finish. 2
