Overview

Al-Gharid, a singer. Al-Mas'udi relates that the jinn killed him after his singing became famous and was transmitted from him. 2

The jinn had forbidden him to sing certain verses of poetry, and he sang them and they killed him. This is from al-Mas'udi's account. 2

Elsewhere he is counted among the singers of the days of al-Walid ibn Yazid. 3

Note: the entity's data date him to the pre-Islamic period, while the second report places him in the days of al-Walid ibn Yazid. The date needs an additional source, and two singers with the same name may have been confused.
