Overview

Al-Dumustuq, a title for the commander of the Byzantines in a report that Ibn al-Athir relates. In 315 AH he marched with a great army against the city of Dabil, with siege engines, catapults and javelins that were thrown with fire. 2

A detachment came out from Tarsus and met the enemy forces. The Byzantines won, and captured four hundred men of the Muslims and put them to death in cold blood. 2
