Overview
Ishaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Sabbah al-Tamimi, then al-Sa'di, known as al-Barbari al-Muharrir, with the kunya Abu al-Husayn. His father Ibrahim was also a scribe. Ibn al-Nadim says he taught al-Muqtadir and his sons, and that he was the teacher of Ibn Muqla. 1
He wrote a treatise on calligraphy and writing called "Tuhfat al-Waqiq", and Ibn al-Nadim says that none like it had been seen in his time. 1
The museum's data do not record his dates of birth and death, which need an additional source.
